BIS QCO for the Steel and Steel Products
The Ministry of Steel has notified Steel and Steel Products (Quality Control) Order under the BIS Act, 2016
The Ministry of Steel has notified Steel and Steel Products (Quality Control) Order under the BIS Act, 2016, which mandates that all steel products imported into the country must have a BIS license and be accompanied by a Mill Test Certificate, marked with ISI and BIS license numbers.
To ensure compliance, steel importers must apply for clarification through the TCQCO Portal for each consignment that lacks BIS certification.
The Ministry of Steel has a Technical Committee to examine these applications and determine if the products fall under the Steel QCO.
Importers should submit a fresh application for each consignment unless specified otherwise in the clarification. More information is available on the Ministry of Steel's website and the TCQCO Portal.
This circular supersedes the previous circular from December 20, 2018, on the same topic.
