BIS QCO for Sodium cyanide
The Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals has issued a notification for Sodium cyanide (HS CODE 28371100).
Sodium cyanide is extensively used in various industries, including gold and silver extraction, ore floatation, pharmaceuticals, and more.
To ensure human health and environmental safety, the Indian Standard IS 11782:1986 is set to become mandatory for all locally manufactured or imported Sodium cyanide.
Products must bear the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) standard mark under license from BIS as per Scheme-II of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations,2018.
The adoption date is pending, but the order is expected to come into effect six months after adoption.
Comments on the order can be submitted within 60 days from the notification date.
The Bureau of Indian Standards will serve as the certifying and enforcing authority.
