BIS QCO for Labelling and Marking's for Textiles Apparels and Made-Up Articles

OVERVIEW

The Ministry of Textiles has issued a draft notification titled the "Labelling and Marking's for Textiles Apparels and Made-Up Articles, 2026".

It shall come into force from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.

This Order applies to the goods or articles classified as Labelling and Marking's for Textiles Apparels and Made-Up Articles, which shall conform to the specifications outlined in the Indian Standard 667 titled: Methods for Identification of Textile Fibers.

All such goods or articles must bear the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), in accordance with Scheme–I of Schedule–II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

Export Exemption:
This Order shall not apply to goods or articles manufactured domestically solely for export.

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) shall act as the certifying and enforcing authority for the goods or articles covered under this Order, namely Labelling and Marking's for Textiles Apparels and Made-Up Articles.

Any person who violates the provisions of this Quality Control Order shall be liable for punishment under the provisions of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
