BIS Quality Control Amendment Order for the Acrylonitrile
Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has introduced the Acrylonitrile (Quality Control) Second Amendment Order, 2024, which will take effect on the 24th of October 2025.
The order applies specifically to Acrylonitrile goods or articles but excludes those intended for export.
It mandates that Acrylonitrile products conform to Indian Standard IS 12540:1988 and bear the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) as per Scheme-I of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
The Bureau of Indian Standards will serve as the certifying and enforcing authority for Acrylonitrile products.
Violations of this order will be subject to punishment under the provisions of the relevant Act.
