BIS Extension Order for Copper Products Quality Control (Copper Rods and Bars for Electrical Purposes)
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has issued an extension order titled the "Copper Products (Quality Control) Order, 2024."
Goods or articles of Copper Products must adhere to Indian Standard IS 613:2000 (Copper Rods and Bars for Electrical Purposes). They should bear the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau as per Scheme-1 of Schedule-II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
Exceptions:
- Micro enterprises and small enterprises, as defined under the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006 (27 of 2006), must conform to the specified Indian Standards.
- This order does not apply to goods or articles intended for domestic manufacturing for export purposes.
The Bureau will serve as the certifying and enforcing authority for Copper Products.
Any person violating the provisions of this order shall face punishment under the provisions of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
